first crack at it: lemon
with the arrival of our newest family member, hamilton beach 68330R, there was not a moment to lose. ice cream is an important and immediate thing.
first effort is a david lebovitz recipe posted by tinyurbankitchen: a simple lemon flavor made with half and half.
after one false start (not enough ice), success:
zest from one lemon pulsed with 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
blend juice and zest/sugar mixture until fully dissolved/integrated
add 1&1/2 cups half and half + a pinch of salt and pulse until mixed
chill for an hour or so (or a day if you don’t have enough ice the first time either!)
churn per machine directions until texture is desirable
let set for an hour or more
there would be pictures of people enjoying this ice cream if i & some monster hadn’t eaten most of it.
next go around i probably need to churn more, and i’m definitely eager to work with fattier mixtures. but this recipe is likely useful for tweaking later.
